CAD/GIS Analyst

Position Purpose/Summary

The CAD/GIS Analyst will be employed by Fastwyre Broadband and will report to the OSP Engineering Manager. He/She is primarily responsible for responding to operational requests for confirmation of service availability and other outside plant network analysis tasks. He/She will also keep existing outside plant records (maps, staking sheets, etc...) up to date, using RUS specifications as well as creating all new drawings in CAD and GIS format that meet all Fastwyre Broadband engineering standards. He/She must maintain all records in the CAD/GIS and order managemet systems. 

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities 

  1. Will respond to requests for servicablity across all ABBH locations.
  2. Analyze CAD/GIS records to support business reporting
  3. Support the recording and conversion of legacy plant records to new standards using CAD/GIS and other systems
  4. Will establish all required outside plant records onto the landbase, keeping the continuing property record data base and subscriber data base up to date.
  5. Plots and creates staking sheets, plant record maps, ACD (area coverage design) maps and schematic maps for all cable routes in all exchanges.
  6. Creates drawings for proposed plant expansions along with material and cost estimates for each new expansion.
  7. Posts as-built information on drawings and maps after construction is completed and updates the continuing property records.
  8. Generates cost and information reports for the general ledger and other files.
  9. Stakes, drafts, and inspects all jobs as . Sees that vehicles, tools, and other materials assigned to him/her are properly used and kept in good working order and any required repairs are promptly reported.
  10. Creates any drawings and signs as .
  11. Performs other duties as directed by supervision.

 

Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills for Success

The CAD/GIS Drafter will be required to have completed an AutoCAD training program and have two years work experience with a CAD system using AutoCAD software. He/She will be required to successfully complete outside plant training as well as the GIS Systems training course, and must become knowledgeable about RUS specifications, symbology, and terminology as it relates to outside plant records and design. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Working knowledge and experience using AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge and experience using GIS systems for recordkeeping
  • OSP design and engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

 

Working Conditions

  • The CAD Drafter/Operator must possess a valid drivers license
  • Must be able to  work on uneven surfaces.
  • Work additional hours in the evenings and on weekends, provide technical solutions as  to our customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as business need dictates
