Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to analyze requests for spatial analysis, mapping, budget, programming, data summarization, and creates queries and reports.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
• Maintains and administers various GIS systems as needed.
• Utilizes ArcGIS Desktop software (ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro) and ArcGIS Online to produce digital maps, map books, displays, charts, analysis, presentations, and online applications for use by government agencies, companies, and the public.
• Prepares GIS layers, applications, and data sets for various departments, both internal and external.
• Creates and updates Metadata.
• Maintain databases and ensures that databases meet standards, are up to date, and accurate.
• Utilizes ArcGIS online and mobile applications. (e.g., Field maps, Survey123, Dashboards Experience Builder).
• Visits field locations to observe operations and to gather relevant information.
• Answer questions and provide information concerning GIS application programs, projects, and activities.
• Research solutions and develop technical competency through organizational involvement and continuing education.
• Assist in creation and maintenance of training documentation and standard operation procedures. Assist with training on GIS related topics, projects, and procedures.
• Shares technical knowledge and coordinates work activities with other GIS team members and departments.
• Leverages windows Environment software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) to create supporting data and document processes.
• Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Cartography, Computer Science, GIS, Geography or related discipline.
• One (1) year of computer-aided: mapping, design, drafting; graphics, geographic information systems database maintenance, or urban and regional planning experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
• Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
