‎JOB DESCRIPTION GIS ANALYST

 

The GIS Analyst will coordinate all aspects of GIS activities associated with gathering, creating,

converting, managing, mapping, editing, and analyzing spatial data in support of midstream oil and gas capital projects. The GIS Analyst will routinely interact with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure necessary information, drawings, and databases are integrated with the GIS and that project objectives are met. The GIS Analyst will help coordinate the efforts of all other departments to ensure that necessary information, drawings, and databases are integrated with the GIS system; and to customize user interfaces by programming application software that is compatible with the GIS system.

 

EDUCATION:

·Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

QUALIFICATIONS:

·5-7 years of progressive experience in GIS with the last 3 years as a GIS Analyst or similar role.

·Must have 3+ years of previous experience using ArcGIS 10.0 or higher required.

·In-depth knowledge of the pipeline industry is required.

·Advanced level of knowledge and experience with ESRI Desktop products and other GIS/CAD & graphics drawing applications is required.

·Knowledge of advanced cartographic principles required.

·Alignment Sheet Generation experience required.

·FERC Experience is preferred.

·PODS and/or APDM/UPDM experience preferred.

·Experience with Class Location and HCA Analysis a plus.

·Familiarity with GIS automation techniques using Python scripting, ArcObjects programing, model builder, FME and/or VBA/VBscript.

·Familiarity with ArcGIS server, SQL Server, Oracle is desirable.

·GISP and/or Esri Certification is desirable.

·Must be proficient with MS Office products Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·Perform GIS functions associated with as-built and pipeline integrity efforts for midstream projects including but not limited to location mapping, route mapping, as-built alignment sheet generation, crossing list generation, and impact analysis calculations.

·Perform advanced GIS analysis and spatial data management as it pertains to the day-to- day operation of the GIS and associated applications. Perform spatial data analysis and attribution.

·Provide input to the design and management of GIS databases, tools, and applications.

·Integrate existing data from a variety of internal and external sources into the GIS database.

·Implement specific GIS tools to assist end users with daily mapping and analysis as needed.

·Utilize quality control procedures to ensure data accuracy.

·Search for and data mines geospatial information from disparate external sources.

·Create presentation quality maps and completes complex geospatial analysis to support the midstream business.

·Create and present in-house training material.

·Mentor less experienced staff and foster a team environment.

oAbility to Travel to Worksite as Follows:

·Must have valid drivers’ license;

·Must be physically able to travel by automobile to client site in other states or within Texas; and

·Must be physically able to drive an automobile and have reliable transportation.

oMust have the ability to be physically present to work onsite at client’s location on a daily basis and to work away from home for extended periods of time.

oMust have the ability to work independently without supervision in order to perform job duties listed in this Job Description.

oMust have the ability to manage time effectively in order to accomplish job tasks in an organized and efficient manner and within deadlines set by client.
