NDOT is responsible for the planning, development, design, construction, maintenance, and administration of the state highway system. Pay range is $28.702 - $42.310 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.
JOB DUTIES:
You will be part of the team that maintains the NDOT Spatial Linear Referencing System (LRS) for all roads in the NDOT inventory and Cartographic Map Products:
- Assist in developing and maintaining the Spatial LRS in GIS. Run spatial analysis checks to ensure spatial data and tabular LRS data match. Review Highway Performace Monitoring System (HPMS) tables with spatial LRS to ensure all data is mapping properly.
- Use Microsoft SQL views from Integrated Highway Inventory (IHI) information within ArcGIS Pro to run dynamic segmentation to create GIS datasets to display in GIS applications.
- Create shapefiles or file geodatabases for others requesting this information including Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
- Set up and maintain ArcGISPro County and City files including the creation of sheet files/map series for distribution to internal and external stakeholders.
- Use the information provided by coworkers, such as annexation ordinances, to update city limit boundaries using Coordinate Geometry (COGO) within ArcGISPro and check all 500+ Cities for accuracy yearly. Submit maps to the Cities for Lane Mile Reporting.
- Review National Functional Classification System and create maps for submittal and approval of Cities, Counties, and Federal Highway Administration.
- Assist in the development of general map requests of new GIS datasets and coordinate with IT Applications Developer Senior on automation techniques if requests come monthly, quarterly, or yearly.
- Create specialty maps by request. Determine Spatial Requirements and technical requirements to develop the new GIS spatial datasets.
- Provide technical support and customer service to fulfill delivery of mapping services. Assist IT Application Developer Senior and IT Applications Developer Lead with the creation of How-To documentation and assist in training seminars to provide guidance for agency GIS users.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualification:
Minimum Qualifications: Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education or experience using GIS software: ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise Portal, and ArcGIS Online.
- Experience using SQL queries within ArcGIS software or Microsoft SQL Management Studio.
Other:
- Must have a valid driver's license or ability to provide authorized independent transportation.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Eligible for hybrid work.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise Portal, and ArcGIS Online.
- Skills in/Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to use ArcGIS Pro to perform analysis/quality control tools to produce public maps and applications.
