Job Summary:
The GIS Analyst will play a key role in supporting the organization’s implementation and use of ArcGIS Online platform and other geospatial software programs. This role involves developing, managing and maintaining web maps, applications and dashboards to visualize and analyze GIS data associated with large-scale energy projects. The GIS Analyst will work closely with project teams to ensure that GIS tools and data support critical decision-making processes. This includes collecting, processing and managing spatial data, integrating it into the ArcGIS Online platform and creating intuitive, user-friendly mapping solutions tailored to the needs of diverse stakeholders.
The GIS Analyst will also act as a liaison between GIS users and the platform, handling requests for updates and troubleshooting technical issues. As part of an interdisciplinary team, the candidate will collaborate with management, developers, public relations, environmental experts and other business units to ensure the successful integration of GIS technology into company operations. This position requires a proactive individual with strong technical expertise and the ability to translate complex spatial information into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
Essential Job Functions:
- Create and maintain web maps, dashboards and apps in ArcGIS Online to support project development and decision-making.
- Manage GIS data, ensuring accuracy and usability for various stakeholders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to define mapping needs and develop GIS-based solutions.
- Support geospatial analysis and visualization of project data, including real estate, physical features, infrastructure, facilities design, environmental and other regulatory considerations.
- Perform quality assurance on GIS data to ensure consistency and adherence to company standards.
- Provide customer service to internal and external stakeholders regarding requests for map updates, enhancements and troubleshooting.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on ArcGIS Online tools and best practices.
Education/Experience/Skills:
Basic Requirements:
- 3–5 years of industry experience in the GIS profession.
- Experience with geospatial data management, including data acquisition, transformation, and integration into GIS platforms.
- Deep familiarity and hands-on experience with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and presenting GIS data effectively.
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of industry experience in the GIS profession.
- Experience with Python programming, particularly using Esri’s “arcgis” and “arcpy” packages.
- Experience in creating and managing ArcGIS Web AppBuilder or Experience Builder applications.
- Certification such as Esri Technical Certification for ArcGIS or GIS Professional (GISP) or similar.
- Familiarity with energy project development process.
- Demonstrated ability to automate repetitive GIS workflows.
