GIS Intern

The City of Sandy Springs is currently accepting applications for a GIS Intern for Summer 2025.  Qualified applicant will have knowledge of GIS principles as well as practical experience with Esri ArcGIS.  The person in this position will primarily be editing existing stormwater datasets.  Other tasks may include collecting data in the field, editing other datasets, and making online maps.   

The GIS Intern will work under the supervision of the GIS Manager and with GIS, stormwater, and other staff. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.  

Preferred applicants will be working towards a degree or certificate in Geography, GIS, or related field. Students who graduated in Spring 2025 are also welcome to apply.

The GIS Intern will have the opportunity to grow their GIS skills with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Field Maps.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro, specifically data editing

Experience with ArcGIS Online

Ability to perform accurate and timeline data entry

Ability to work well with others

Ability to meet project deadlines

Hours and Location

The GIS Intern is expected to work on-site between the hours of 8 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday.   Part-time or full-time hours will be considered based on the Intern’s class schedule and availability, for a maximum of 225 hours.

Compensation

The GIS Intern position pays $20 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
