Job Duties:

  • A successful candidate will provide GIS support to a variety of energy sectors through the development of maps, databases, and spatial analyses.
  • The GIS Specialist will be expected to work in the Esri software platform (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online) and be knowledgeable in the core environmental services that GAI offers its clients, such as wetland and stream delineation, state and federal permitting, and sensitive species surveys.
  • Produce high quality cartographic products in support of energy infrastructure projects.
  • Assists with publishing and managing Enterprise GIS content, such as feature services and web maps, and configuring web apps.

Experience Required:

  • Intermediate-level technical skills working with the Esri products suite, including ArcGIS Desktop/Pro with 3D Analyst & Spatial Analyst Extensions, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal), and other GIS software such as Google Earth Pro.
  • Intermediate-level experience developing mapping exhibits and knowledge of basic cartographic principles.
  • Experience publishing and managing feature services and using ArcGIS Online/Enterprise to develop and share web maps for use in Field Maps, Experience Builder, etc.
  • Understands basic Enterprise (SDE) Geodatabase functionality and data administration workflows.

Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years minimum of professional GIS experience
  • Experience in developing, publishing, and managing forms and surveys using Survey123 for ArcGIS a plus.

  • Continues to develop critical thinking skills and ability to work on multiple projects or tasks; assists Task Managers with technical aspects of projects; ability to perform quality reviews of intermediate technical work; guides entry level and senior level technical staff; willingness to travel to expand experience base.

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 5+ Years of Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university program in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Information Science/Technology, Geography or Cartography, Environmental Science with a certificate (preferred) or strong aptitude in GIS, and other related information sciences

Technical Responsibilities

  • Data collection field and data analysis experience; Project geodatabase design; web-based mapping application/service development; advanced data analysis (customizes GIS tools); performs quality reviews of GIS technical work; hands-on training with senior staff; serves as technical advisor on special projects.
  • If assigned as direct supervisor manage and lead employees; Mentor and motivate; Communicate (including listening); Be available to employees; regular performance feedback; Enforce GAI policy and disseminate internal announcements; Foster teamwork and provide regular overall feedback to staff members

Project and Task Management

  • Works as a part of a team and coordinates work with others. 
  • Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements

Management Responsibility

  • Assigning and overseeing tasks under the direct supervision of the Task Manager; keeping close communication with Task Managers; assisting Project Managers or Task Managers with proposal preparation, scopes of work, and project component cost estimates; supervises junior staff.
  • Guidance and oversight from Task Managers and Project Managers.
  • If assigned as a direct supervisor receives guidance and oversight from Business Managers and/or experts in specific environmental areas

Communication Skills

  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills; interacts with other staff; interacts with clients with close oversight; interacts closely with Project Managers and various Department Managerial Staff; performs well with client communications.
  • If assigned as direct supervisor, communication (focusing on listening) skills; interacts with employees and various managerial staff regarding employee performance, hiring, coordination with HR on performance issues of staff, merit increases, etc.; Keep employees informed of company news and policy changes
