Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Under general supervision, assist with performing GIS surveys and reports from field sites for project research and investigation.
• Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, compiling documentation, and analysis of incoming and existent data.
• Assist with performing basic professional GIS work relating to conducting investigations, inspections, studies, and surveys to gain further information relating to digital mapping, merging topographical data with external data, identifying the characteristics and conditions of a site, and determining the authenticity of spatial data.
• Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, field/work site notes, and software.
• Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, the maintenance of any artifact collection, historical documentation, written procedures, and logbooks.
• Provide local assistance with researching and illustrating the geography of project sites, as well as assisting with public exhibits relating to projects.
• Utilize the latest methods, procedures, technologies, and techniques in performing studies and analysis of sites, and assisting with creating topographic maps, graphs, and tabular data to determine exact locations of project areas and associated physical and geographic sensitivities.
Qualifications:
• Associate degree in GIS, Environmental Science, Planning, Technology, or a related field.
• Analytical skills, and familiarity with research techniques, modeling data, scanning and digitizing files, and experience maintaining records and databases with assigned projects required.
• Familiarity with ESRI’s Arc GIS platform.
• General awareness of AutoCAD, Python, Visual Basic, Arcade, or SQL programming
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed for project work.
- Physical capability to walk up to two miles on uneven terrain, frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment:
- This is a full-time position requiring a 40-hour workweek.
- This position is primarily office-based.
- Standard working hours with some flexibility required for meeting deadlines and supporting events.
