- Promote and follow our mission statement, values and expectations.
- Cultivate a positive attitude among department personnel and other contacts.
- Provide high level of internal and external customer service.
- Prepare computer mapping, geographical information, and graphic and illustrative services to all City departments.
- Develop database structure, tables, forms and reports for geographic data.
- Read and interpret graphs, charts, plans diagrams and maps.
- Maintain and create custom GIS solutions, including web maps, tools and scripts.
- Write reports, memos, and keep records on GIS progress.
- Respond to public inquiries and requests for maps, charts, graphs and related information.
- Apply knowledge of concepts of database design, development, and application related to GIS.
- Utilize knowledge of the nomenclature, symbols, techniques, and mathematics of mapping.
- Draw on knowledge of programming languages including VBA, Python and Javascript.
- Make use of knowledge of the core ESRI suite of products including ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS server and data gathering techniques.
To be considered you will need:
- A valid Utah Driver’s License.
- A degree in geography, cartography, GIS or related field.
- Two (2) years of prior experience with computerized mapping or GIS experience is preferred.
- To have the ability to professionally furnish and obtain information from other employees and the public.
- A good sense of strategy and timing.
- To establish effective working relationships with employees and the public.
- Generally work in a comfortable office setting with minimal noise
- Moderate mental pressure and fatigue is present during average work day
- Regular attendance at the workplace is necessary

The “Elbow Grease” of the job:
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, talking and hearing, sitting or driving for extended periods of time
- Requires use of plotter, GPS equipment and software
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English
- Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds
- Vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Need sound judgment to avoid friction during difficult matters or situations
- Ability to use a personal computer, printer, copier, scanner and telephone system
