Job Description:

Maryland Environmental Service is seeking a GIS Specialist to join the Technical and Environmental Services (TES) Division working at Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) in Baltimore, MD. The selected candidate may be assigned to work offsite within various partner agency locations and may assist with field data collection (overnight travel within MD is a possibility), populating databases, maintaining geo-databases, testing new applications, and performing analysis using ESRI's Desktop ArcGIS, ArcPro, Modelbuilder and open-source software. The ideal candidate will be familiar with cartography and map visualizations, updating point, polyline, and polygon datasets, and interpreting satellite and aerial imagery. The selected candidate may also assist with data QA/QC and maintenance of recently acquired data for integration into relational database management systems along with facilitating the completion of cartographic requests.

Preferred skills include GIS-based transportation, environmental data management, and environmental background along with knowledge of global positioning technologies is a plus. Experience creating or editing data in an ESRI ArcGIS desktop and AcPro environment is required. Experience using Raster Analysis, LiDAR Analysis, Survey123, Collector, ArcGIS Online, and database servers is preferred.

 

Estimated Pay Range:

$48,301.85 - $55,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Geography, GIS Technology, Cartography, Environmental Science, Computer Science or a related field with minimum of 9 credit hours in courses specifically related to GIS operation/management plus one year of related experience. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
