Under the general supervision of the Deputy Information Technology Director, the Senior GIS Analyst will position the county as a high-performing organization by harnessing the power of spatial intelligence to drive efficiency, informed decision-making, and improved public services. This role focuses on advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis, application development, and data management, utilizing ESRI software to deliver innovative solutions that meet the county’s operational needs. Examples of DutiesPRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Spatial Data Analysis and Visualization:
Perform complex spatial data analysis and create maps, reports, and visualizations to support county operations and decision-making.
Collaborate with departments to analyze spatial data needs and deliver actionable insights.
GIS Application Development and Maintenance:
Design, develop, and maintain GIS applications and tools using ESRI technologies to optimize workflows and enhance user accessibility.
Provide technical guidance on leveraging GIS technology to solve operational challenges.
Data Management and Integration:
Manage and maintain the county’s GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and security.
Integrate GIS data with other enterprise systems to enhance operational efficiency and data sharing.
Collaboration and Training:
Work closely with stakeholders to identify GIS requirements, implement solutions, and provide training on GIS tools and best practices.
Serve as a subject matter expert on GIS-related projects and initiatives.
Strategic Initiatives and Innovation:
Support the county’s strategic goals by identifying opportunities for innovation through geospatial technology.
Stay updated on GIS trends, tools, and technologies to recommend and implement advancements.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Office-based role with occasional travel for conferences, training, or vendor meetings.
On-call availability for urgent security incidents or breaches.
Performs related duties as required.
Typical Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
5+ years of experience in GIS analysis, development, and data management, with extensive experience using ESRI software.
Experience with GIS application development, scripting languages (e.g., Python), and spatial database management.
Preferred Certifications:
GISP (GIS Professional) or ESRI Technical Certification.
SKILLSET & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS software suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in spatial data modeling and geoprocessing.
Knowledge of GIS programming and scripting (e.g., Python, SQL) and enterprise GIS environments.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and be able to pass an FBI / CJIS fingerprint and background checks.
