We are seeking a Senior GIS Analyst to join our team of GIS professionals. This role is designed for a mid to senior-level professional who exhibits a deep understanding of typical GIS workflows in the AEC industry. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role leading the development, implementation, and management of GIS projects to support organizational goals. Additionally, the candidate will provide advanced spatial analysis, data management, and web-mapping expertise while skill-sharing with junior team members.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • GIS Analysis and Mapping: Design and execute complex spatial analyses and geospatial models to support organizational project needs. Design and develop high-quality web-maps, mapping documents, reports, and visualizations using desktop and online GIS tools and software.
  • Data Management: Collect, process, and maintain geospatial data from diverse sources. Design robust geodatabases, standardized data schemas, and associated metadata.
  • Standards Development and Skill-Sharing: Analyze existing GIS workflows and improve team efficiency through improved standardization and procedures. Assist in designing and conducting technical GIS training. Participate in skill-sharing with junior staff members.
  • Web-GIS Advancement: Assist in driving the organizational adoption and integration of web-GIS technologies in our projects and internal business processes (ArcGIS Online).
  • Project Management: Assist with the management of GIS projects, including scope definition, resource allocation, timeline management, technical writing, and client correspondence.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the GIS Team, internal business services, external partners, and clients to understand and fulfill GIS-related needs efficiently and effectively. Present findings, recommendations, and summaries to non-technical stakeholders using GIS technology.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in GIS analysis, data management, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in desktop and web-based GIS software (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS) and spatial data analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of geospatial data formats, database management, and data visualization techniques. Expertise in spatial organization and documentation.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, R, ModelBuilder, Arcade).
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or training technical colleagues or junior staff.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • An innovative mindset for staying abreast of technological advancements and applying them to enhance project outcomes and deliverables.

Preferred Credentials/Experience

  • Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., GISP, Esri Technical Certification).
  • Knowledge of remote sensing techniques, hardware and software (e.g., sUAS, advanced raster analysis, LiDAR processing, 3D and indoor modeling).
