Survey Geospatial Team Lead

ESP Associates is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Survey Geospatial Team Lead with a strong background in Route, Mobile, Terrestrial, and UAS LiDAR scanning, and hydrographic/H&H survey technologies to join our team in the Fort Mill, SC office. As a Survey Geospatial Team Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing survey projects with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and on occasion support other projects on a national level. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Orthophoto generation, Trimble GNSS systems, Riegl RiProcess software, Applanix PosPac, TopoDOT software, ESRI/GIS software and hydrographic survey techniques. Additionally, the ideal candidate should show a desire to employee and adopt higher technology and a willingness to apply it to more traditional methods.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of survey projects and operations, ensuring adherence to project specifications set by NCDOT and SCDOT, safety standards, and quality control measures.
  • Utilize Trimble GNSS systems, Riegl RiProcess software, TopoDOT software, and hydrographic survey equipment to collect, process, and analyze data.
  • Develop and implement survey plans and methodologies to meet project requirements and deliverables.
  • Adopt and apply evolving technologies
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that survey data meets the needs of the project.
  • Train and supervise survey team members on the use of traditional and higher tech survey equipment and software.
  • Ensure that all survey equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring that survey activities are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for the resolution of complex survey issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and advancements in mobile LiDAR and hydrographic survey technologies.
  • Prepare and review survey reports, maps, and other deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in North Carolina and South Carolina, or have the ability to obtain within six months
  • 5+ years of experience in mobile LiDAR and hydrographic survey operations, with a focus on transportation and water resources projects.
  • Proven experience with Trimble GNSS systems, Riegl RiProcess software, TopoDOT software, GIS software, orthophoto generation and hydrographic survey techniques.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.   

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Static, Mobile, UAS LiDAR
  • Detail knowledge of coordinate systems and custom projections 
  • Knowledge of NCDOT and SCDOT standards and practices.
  • Leadership and business development skills
  • Experience with H&H (hydraulics and hydrology) analysis and modeling.
